The Blue Card: Week 2 Recap

The Blue Card: Week 2 Recap

The tide has started to shift to spring energy in week 2. League figurehead and founding member, Mr. Rowlings was caught on a hot mic imploring team Silver to try and limit initial control of the ball to 3 touches.

The executive committee has added a new rule to the TIDE LAWS OF THE GAME. Goalies are being asked to announce their presence when leaving their crease and charging toward a ball. Acceptable shouts include but not limited to “Keeper”, “I’m on my way” or “Decent Goalie”. The executive team is committed to promoting safe play and we as referees appreciate this adjustment. We will not blow a whistle on the play if you forget to yell “I’m Entering your safe space”. A whistle could be blown if there is a situation where safety is a concern.

The Blue Card award

I was impressed with how many Tide members were trying hard to win this coveted award. Shout outs to

Peter Wynne – with one of the quickest deft foot to knee reverse touches I have witnessed

Avner Dachsel Kerr – a perfect shot pass that very few would have identified

Mike Carroll – putting a knee to the ground hoping for a whistle to avoid defending at all costs.

This week’s winner – Team Grey

Team Grey rebounded in week 2 with a defensive clinic against the high flying, L-Driving, Team black. The dynamic duo of Peter Wynne and Miles Boulton (now known as Salt and Pepper) connected often to capture the lead. Utilizing the rare (at least in spring league) 6-1-1 formation, the Grey team protected the lead against constant pressure. For those balls that did make their way through flailing limbs, Ella Dupuy used all means possible to defend her house.

Congratulations to Team Grey
