The Blue Card: Week 7 Recap

The Blue Card: Week 7 Recap

Week 7 was a great one to be a referee. Two very close, well played and perfectly refereed games!

TIDE LAWS OF THE GAME

What happens when a player not on the field interferes or touches the ball before the ball exists the field of play?  It used to be an automatic yellow/blue card. Now it is an indirect free kick to the opposing team unless it is deliberate interference that impacts the play of the game. A blue card could be shown.

Honorable Mentions

  • Kelly Green made it a family affair with the addition of Hugo “Makes it Look” Pheasey. The Mom and Dad calls took a little bit of getting used to!
  • WW or William “Heisenberg” Watson of Team Pink with a spinning chest attempt at net. This one was a first for me, defied physics and it was almost spectacular.
  • Team Pink was not done spinning. Russell “Russell Russell” Beck with three timed spinning pass/juggling attempts to nail a pass. Impressive.

This week’s winner

The Whole Match – Team Royal Blue and Team Orange. This one had a razor thin margin and was the latish game of the season for me. Despite a little bit of ankle biting going on in the first half, both teams cleaned it up and went ankle to ankle in the second. Well played by both teams.
